Kings Place: The 10 year brochure
2018 was the tenth anniversary of the opening of Kings Place in London’s regenerated Kings Cross, the brainchild of Peter Millican . The streets surrounding the two major stations have been transformed over the past few years and the re-location of Central St Martin’s just across the road has confirmed the cultural buzz that now emanates from this small area. Seriously…you have fantastic events at Kings Place, the ambiance and entertainment of the waterside along the canal and within walking distance you can be at The Place – one of the best venues in London for contemporary dance. Magic!
This brochure, like the others I have worked on for Kings Place in recent years, was designed by Binomi. The brief was to capture the spirit of the building as evinced by the many activities and events it encompasses. Timing and planning were crucial to this and the technical requirements presented some interesting challenges. For example, the overhead photograph in Hall One was also captured as a timelapse – the problem was that even in a full house there are always a few stragglers that don't make it before the lights dim, necessitating several days of cutting and pasting hundreds of frames to give the impression that everyone arrived on time!
